Birchwood has committed to a long term presence in the Kiwifruit industry by extending its Rea Road site with the completion of 8 new coolstore rooms designed specifically for Kiwifruit Storage. This has allowed Birchwood’s entire packed product to be stored on site, giving total control of the fruit inventory.
We have incorporated in the coolstore construction the latest technology in energy efficient lighting and the use of an energy efficient water defrost system harnessing typically wasted energy. The use of this new technology is providing Birchwood with a reduction in energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and for our grower’s, excellence in storage facilities.
